Lighting for any show presents challenges. Lighting in a copper mine's hoist house? Extraordinarily challenging but also rewarding. The Quincy Mine No. 2 Shaft Hoist House is a roughly 5,625 sqft building with a five-story height. It houses the largest steam hoisting engine in the world. For this multi-day show, I assisted in designing and installing lighting in the hoist house to light both the performers and the space adequately, artistically accenting various elements of the architecture and grandeur of the hoist itself. During the shows, I ran the board, ensuring that busking went smoothly and any pre-made cues were fired off at the proper time.
